Welcome to Endeavor’s GK Capsule for the month of April 2022.

This month saw a remarkable turn in events leading to a change in leadership in Pakistan, the election results and the new leadership in Hungary and France, the suspension of Russia from the UN Human Rights Council, the Palm oil crisis in Indonesia, WTO’s revised outlook for global growth as well as GDP growth projection for India this year, Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter, the announcement of the merger of the HDFC twins and other such highlights.

In the category of Awards and Recognitions, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has named Sir David Attenborough, English natural history broadcaster and naturalist, as the recipient of the Champions of the Earth Award 2021 under the Lifetime Achievement category.

Falguni Nayar has been named as the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2021, at the 23rd edition of the EY Entrepreneur of The Year India awards.

In the category of Persons in News, the Pakistan Parliament elected Mr. Shehbaz Sharif as the 23rd Prime Minister of the country, a day after Imran Khan was ousted from power in a no-confidence vote.

In Hungary, the authoritarian leader and longtime Russian ally, Viktor Orban, clinched a fourth consecutive term as the Prime Minister winning by a huge margin.

Marine Le Pen a far-right leader has been defeated by Emmanuel Macron to be re-elected as the President of France.

The central government appointed economist Suman Bery as the vice-chairman of NITI Aayog for a term of five years after Rajiv Kumar resigned from the post.

In the category of International News, the war in Ukraine entered its third month with no end in sight to the fighting that has already killed thousands of people and displaced countless families.

Russia has also been suspended from the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) after there were allegations that its soldiers violated human rights in Ukraine.
